Mango Rum Cake at The Model Bakery

White Bean Soup Recipe with Whole Spice Soup Base

Whole Spice White Bean Soup

Ingredients:
Quarter cup olive oil plus extra for drizzling
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
2 cups leeks (white part only), diced
2 Tbs. Whole Spice soup base
1 ½ cups vegetable broth
1 28 oz. can of chopped tomatoes
1 28 oz. can or frozen white beans (any kind of white bean will do)
Fresh parsley
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:
Sauté carrots, celery, leeks, garlic in olive oil for five minutes. Add soup base, chopped tomatoes and white beans and simmer on stove for 45 minutes. Spoon into four bowls and garnish with fresh parsley, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

Cate & Co. Opening Mid-November

Cate & Co., a gluten-free bake shop will open at Oxbow Public Market in mid November, 2013. Created by Catherine Bergen, founder of C CASA, Cate & Co. will feature delicious, fresh baked and unique pastries, breads, savory and sweet snacks as well as sandwiches and salads in a quick serve and fun environment. Offerings will change daily, and every item at Cate & Co. will be 100% gluten free, made with alternative natural sweeteners, incorporating only lean and clean ingredients such as clarified butter and local farm fresh eggs. Many of the breads and baked goods will also be available par baked and frozen to enable a “fresh baked” Cate & Co. experience at home.
